Analysis of Multi-transmitting Formula for Absorbing Boundary Conditions

چکیده
In this paper, we analyze the multi-transmitting formula (MTF) proposed by Liao et al [19]. From the computed reflection coefficients for the fully discrete MTF boundary conditions, we suggest choices for the artificial wave propagation speed, which are different from Liao’s original choice. Theoretical and numerical studies for various incidence angles demonstrate that the suggested choices effectively reduce spurious reflections.

Absorbing Boundary Conditions for Difference Approximations to the Multi-Dimensional Wave Equation
We consider the problem of constructing absorbing boundary conditions for the multi-dimensional wave equation. Here we work directly with a difference approximation to the equation, rather than first finding analytical boundary conditions and then discretizing the analytical conditions. This approach yields some simple and effective discrete conditions. These discrete conditions are consistent ...
متن کاملAbsorbing boundary conditions for solving stationary Schrödinger equations
Using pseudodifferential calculus and factorization theorems we construct a hierarchy of novel absorbing boundary conditions (ABCs) for the stationary Schrödinger equation with general (linear and nonlinear) exterior potential V (x). Doing so, we generalize the well-known quantum transmitting boundary condition of Lent and Kirkner to the case of space-dependent potential. Here, we present a bri...
متن کاملSevere Impact on the Behavior of Energy Absorbing Cylindrical Base in Frontal Impact
In this paper, the vibration characteristics of multi-layer shell that internal and external surfaces with a layer of piezoelectric sensor and actuator is investigated. The backrest shell laminated with simple analytical method to evaluate and the results were compared with results obtained by other researchers. The numerical solution methods (GDQ) for shells with piezoelectric layers and plain...
متن کاملHigher order multi-point fractional boundary value problems with integral boundary conditions
In this paper, we concerned with positive solutions for higher order m-point nonlinear fractional boundary value problems with integral boundary conditions. We establish the criteria for the existence of at least one, two and three positive solutions for higher order m-point nonlinear fractional boundary value problems with integral boundary conditions by using a result from the theory of fixed...
متن کاملVibration Analysis of Multi-Step Bernoulli-Euler and Timoshenko Beams Carrying Concentrated Masses
In this paper, vibration analysis of multiple-stepped Bernoulli-Euler and Timoshenko beams carrying point masses is presented analytically for various boundary conditions. Each attached element is considered to have both translational and rotational inertias. The method of solution is “transfer matrix method” which is based on the changes in the vibration modes at the vicinity of any discontinu...
